Metaverse is described as the future evolution of the Internet. It is a virtual world where billions of people live, work, shop, learn and interact with each other using an avatar. Some of the technologies that provide access to this virtual world, such as virtual reality (VR) headsets and augmented reality (AR) glasses, are evolving rapidly.

Virtual Reality is a simulated 3D environment that allows users to interact with a virtual environment in a way that approximates reality as perceived through our senses.

Augmented Reality is less immersive than VR. Add digital overlays over the real world through a specific type of lens.

A metaverse can be any 3D virtual space powered by technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain, that allow people to interact with each other.

Metaverse is now widely used for shopping and communication. A metaverse has an independent virtual economy, enabled by digital currencies and non-fungible tokens (NFT). Cryptocurrencies are considered the main currency of the metaverse due to its purely digital quality, delivered through the blockchain, enabling instant and systematic peer-to-peer transactions over the internet at zero cost.

Some of the big corporations are interested in the metaverse: Facebook (Meta), Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and Qualcomm.
